Spring turns our thoughts to opening up our homes and getting them clean and organized. But hidden odors can lurk even in a clean home. Here are a few suggestions if your home still smells less than fresh.
A first step is to check cabinets and under sinks for water leaks and mold. A good disinfecting cleanser or bleach water will take care of problem spots. Pull out your appliances and sweep or vacuum behind them as well. You never know what’s lurking back there causing odor. Your refrigerator and freezer can also be a source of hidden odor. Pull everything out and do a deep, thorough cleaning. Then use boxes of baking soda to help keep things fresh.
A deep cleaning of upholstery and carpet is a great way to make your home smell fresher. There are many services who will come to your home and charge by the room or piece of furniture. You can use a steam cleaner to keep chemicals out of your home. Don’t forget to have them clean mattresses as well as sofas and chairs.
Some cleaning tasks are frequently overlooked. Curtains can get filthy, especially in areas with doors or windows that are open to outside air. Throw pillows and blankets also tend to be forgotten. Tackling some of these problem spots will get your home smelling like spring in no time.
