After a long winter, most of our homes could use a good deep clean. But how do you manage that with the kiddos underfoot? Get them involved! Tackle one room at a time to make sure it gets your full attention, and let your kids handle jobs that will be easy and fun for them. You’ll get much needed help, and they’ll stay busy while you do the heavy lifting!
Kid-friendly tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, and laundry are easy to assign. You can use a chore chart and stickers to teach kids responsibility and reward them for completing their work. With everyone pitching in, kids will find it less of a chore, and you’ll be instilling good habits that will last a lifetime. Working together all in one room makes cleaning a family activity and helps you keep them focused on their tasks.
Look online for ideas to make chores fun! One great way to keep kids focused on their tasks is to give them specific, small jobs. When picking up a play room or bedroom, set a timer for five or ten minutes and have a race to see which child can get the most put away in that time. Give stickers or small prizes as rewards. Turn on some music and have a dance party in between tasks. Your kids will learn the importance of keeping a clean home and getting everyone involved.
