THE DOG (AND PENGUIN!) DAYS OF SUMMER
July 8, 2017

Our Pinewood Estates community is lucky to call Idaho Falls home. There’s always something to do, and one of our favorite places to visit is the Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park. In addition to their regular activities and exhibits, summer brings extra excitement and activities for kids and grown-ups alike.
New babies abound this summer, especially among the zoo’s bird population. Four baby swans, or cygnets, joined their proud parents in the Australia exhibit, mid-May. Shortly after, the red-crowned cranes in the Asian Adventure hatched their first baby. The zoo even welcomed a rhea chick, which looks like an ostrich. You might spot him out and about on a walk through the zoo, but he calls the children’s zoo home.
Baby birds aren’t the only new residents of the zoo, though. Zuri, a serval kitten, recently joined his half-sister, Bahati, as an Animal Ambassador for the zoo. The zoo has also recently become the home of a baby sloth, lion cub, camel calf, and gibbon monkey.
In the Children’s Zoo, kids (and adults!) can interact with sheep and goats in the contact yard and learn about exotic farm animals from all areas of the globe. Don’t forget to check out the “Eggceptional Eggslorer’s Eggsperience” and experience life as a bird.
Adults won’t want to miss “Wines in the Wild” on July 14, featuring wines from around the world, life music, and food available to purchase. All proceeds from the event benefit the Idaho Falls Zoo. It’s sure to be a wild time! For information on tickets, go here.
For more information on events and exhibits at the zoo, and to plan your visit, check out their website here.
Pinewood Estates wants you and your family to make the most of your summer! If you have any service requests, you can submit them using the online Service Manager at www.pinewoodestatesMHC.com and we’re always happy to hear from residents at 208-522-3807 or Amy@thebostongroup.us.
