Summer has ended and the crisp chill of Fall is in the air. How better to celebrate the season than with a family outing to a local straw maze or pumpkin patch. Pinewood Estates Manufactured Housing Community is centrally located to many of these fun attractions, but we thought we would recommend a number of places where you can go to enjoy the fall season whether you live at Pinewood or anywhere else in the Idaho Falls area. Let’s start out with a fun maze. There are several in the area to choose from, both corn and straw mazes. We've highlighted some of the local favorites. We recommend you call ahead to confirm hours and pricing.
Wild Adventure Corn Maze |135 W. 450 N. Blackfoot, ID 83221
The Wild Adventure Corn Maze offers “Hours of Outdoor Fun” for families to enjoy. There is even a coupon on their website. Open M-Th 5:00-10:00 pm, Fr-Sat from Noon to 11:00pm through October 29.
Squealer’s Corn Maze| North Rigby Exit, Highway 20
Dead ends, wrong turns and misdirections – You may want to bring a sleeping bag in case you can’t find your way out!
Boo At The Zoo| Tautphaus Park, 2725 Carnival Way, Idaho Falls
Come see the amazing display of 1,000 pumpkins, 500,000 lights, light sculptures, tricks, treats, spiders and snakes. Enjoy a variety of games and prizes for Halloween fun. Come dressed in a costume and you may win a prize! Bring your trick or treat bag as well. Oct 27, 28 & 29.
If you like something a little milder, you may want to go to the park's Night Lights event, held October 30 and 31, from 5-8:00pm. Come see the zoo all decked out in Halloween lights and decorations. Note: There will not be costumes, crafts, games or trick or treating that this event.
Dr. Slaughter’s House of Terror| 1757 W. Yellowstone Highway, Idaho Falls
One of the largest indoor haunted houses in the United States. Proceeds from this non-profit haunted house support the local D.A.R.E. organization in Bonneville county. Open September 23 - Halloween. No children under age 6.
Larsen’s Maze| 905 West 5000 North, Rexburg
This giant straw maze will have you turned around for hours. There are also smaller mazes for the kids to give a shot. Larsen’s Maze sits on 130 acres off of the Salem Hwy, four miles North of Rexburg. The straw bales are stacked two high to make it more challenging. Up for some excitement? Go after 8:00pm when it is "haunted"!
Haunted Mill at Teton| 95 N 2400 East Teton, ID
This family-oriented entertainment attraction is for anyone of any age who wants a good scare. This historic flour mill turned spook house is for all to enjoy. Open through Halloween.
U Pick Red Barn | 95 N 2400 East Teton, ID
Straw maze, pumpkin painting, train rides, prizes! A great time for young and old. Farm-fresh pumpkins, gourds, corn on the cob, eggs, squash, cucumbers, and watermelon are also available.
Archer Pumpkin Patch Head down the Archer Lyman highway until you come to 4300, then turn left. Watch for a sign that says “Pumpkins for Sale”. Go to the end of the road – there are signs that will direct you where to go. Great prices on pumpkins!
